Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Barisal-3 and Jatiya Party Presidium Member Golam Kibria Tipu, was detained by locals and handed over to the police on Thursday (Nov 14).

Locals detained Tipu, in the Bir Bagair area of Konda union, South Keraniganj, Keraniganj upazila in the capital.

South Keraniganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam comnfirmed the matter to the media. 

Tipu, general secretary of Dhaka metropolitan unit of Awami League’s voluntary wing Swechasebak League, is an accused in a case filed with Motijheel police station.

Later, he was later handed over to the Motijheel police station.

Tipu was elected MP three times from the Barishal-3 (Babuganj-Muladi) constituency.
