Chattogram North District BNP Joint Convener Sarwar Alamgir has said that the people of Bangladesh will not accept the proportional representation (PR) system of election, as it does not reflect their democratic expectations.
He made the remarks on Thursday while distributing leaflets on BNP’s 31-point proposal in various markets of Harualchari's Shantirhat area in Fatikchhari upazila.
Alamgir said, “People of a certain constituency want to elect someone from their own area to represent them in parliament. The idea that someone else will become an MP with votes from one area but work for another area’s development is not acceptable to the people.”
He further said that BNP’s vision for the future of Bangladesh is based on the 31-point outline introduced by the party’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman.
“We are distributing leaflets in the villages and towns of Fatikchhari to raise awareness about the 31 points, which outline our plan for a just and democratic Bangladesh,” he added.
