DHAKA: Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Manzurul Ahsan Khan Thursday said any compromise on trial of war criminals would be suicidal for the ruling Awami League.

“If the government takes the path of compromise on trial of war criminals, it would be suicidal for the Awami League,” he said addressing a rally marking ‘Demand Day’ at city’s Muktangon.

Khan urged the people to resist Jamaat-e-Islami at rural level.

He demanded immediate trial of war criminals and restoration of the constitution of 1972.

He alleged that the Jamaat activists-leaders were collecting money and propagating with all their efforts to prevent the trial of war criminals.

General Secretary of Dhaka city unit Ahsan Habib Lablu and party leader Shamsuzzaman Selim also spoke.
