BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that Bangladesh will be run in the way its people want.

He made the remarks on Monday (11 August) while addressing the BNP council in Naogaon as the chief guest via video link.

Tarique Rahman said, “Bangladesh belongs to its people, and the 200 million people of this country are its owners. The country will be governed in the way the majority of these 200 million people want.”

Addressing party leaders and activists, he said, “BNP’s 31-point outline contains the reforms the party wants to implement and the measures it intends to take to shape the state according to the people’s will.”

He further said, “If you compare BNP’s 31 points with the statements of the government’s consensus commission, you will see they match on almost all matters, with only one or two minor differences.”

Tarique Rahman said BNP has experience in running the state and that the people want to place their trust in the party. 

He expressed BNP’s expectation that the election will be held in February, in line with the timeframe announced by the interim government.
