The testimonies in three cases filed against 53 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, over alleged irregularities in plot allocations in the RAJUK Purbachal New Town Project, are set to begin tomorrow at Dhaka Special Judge Court-4.

Witnesses in the cases, which also involve Sheikh Hasina’s family members Tulip Siddiq, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, Azmina Siddiq, and others, will appear to submit their depositions.

Plaintiffs from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)—Deputy Director Md Salahuddin and Assistant Directors Afnan Jannat Keya and SM Rashedul Hasan—have been summoned to testify.

Earlier on August 11, these ACC officials testified in three other identical cases against 47 accused, including Sheikh Hasina, at Dhaka Special Judge Court-5. After the testimonies, Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun adjourned those hearings until August 26.

On July 31, Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 framed charges in those three cases and issued arrest warrants against the accused, who remain at large.

On the same day, Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 framed charges in three additional cases related to the matter, setting August 13 to begin recording testimonies and issuing arrest warrants.

Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib had forwarded the cases to the Special Judge Courts on July 20 for trial, noting that the accused had not appeared despite court orders.

The ACC filed six cases between January 12 and 14, 2025, submitting charge sheets in March. The cases allege abuse of power in allocating RAJUK plots, with multiple family members of Sheikh Hasina among the accused.

The court also published a gazette notification on July 1, summoning 100 people including Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, in connection with the cases.
