A seven-member delegation of Bangladeshi Islamist leaders, led by Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish chief Maulana Mamunul Haque, has arrived in Afghanistan at the invitation of the Taliban government.

The delegation reached Kabul on Wednesday morning (September 17), according to a press statement issued today by Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis.

Other members include Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Nayeb-e-Amir Maulana Abdul Hamid (Pir of Madhupur), Maulana Abdul Awal, Maulana Abdul Haque, Maulana Habibullah Mahmud Qasemi, Maulana Monir Hossain Qasemi, and Maulana Mahbubur Rahman.

During the five-day visit, the delegation will meet the Afghan Chief Justice, several ministers, senior scholars, and high-ranking Taliban officials. They will also assess the human rights and women’s rights situation in Afghanistan, which has drawn international scrutiny.

The discussions will focus on strengthening ties between scholars of both countries, enhancing diplomatic relations, and expanding cooperation in trade, healthcare, and education. The delegation is also set to visit areas affected by a recent earthquake.

Prior to this trip, the delegation traveled to Saudi Arabia on September 14 to perform Umrah and met with Bangladeshi expatriates in Mecca to prepare for the Khatme Nabuwat Conference scheduled in Bangladesh on November 15. After Umrah, the team flew to Kabul via Dubai.

Maulana Mamunul Haque is expected to visit several other Central Asian countries as part of the tour.
