DHAKA: Nur Hossain, main accused in sensational Narayanganj 7 murder, detained from Kolkata along with his five aides.

Sources said that during a special drive a team of Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Kolkata police led by ACP Animesh Sarkar arrested them around 9:30pm from near Suvash Chandra Airport of Kolkata.

Dum Dum police station confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Meanwhile, a loaded revolver, ten Indian mobile phones, SIM cards, a laptop, pen drive, CD and important papers were seized from his possession. 

Later, the detainees were sent to Baguihati Thana. 

A police officer of the station said that Nur Hossain acknowledged that he rented the flat in the name of taking treatment and police arrested them from the area with the help of International Criminal Police Organization INTERPOL.  

On the other hand, Narayanganj Police Super Dr Khandakar Mahid Uddin said, “We heard about the matter but there is no official massages in this regard.”

The investigation officer of the case, Mamunur Rashid Mandal of Detective Branch of Police told banglanews, “We could not confirm the matter but Indian police may detain him as a red warrant was issued against him by INTERPOL.”

Nur Hossain has been fugitive since bodies of seven people, including panel mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker were recovered from the Shitalakkhya River on April 30.

On May 22, Bangladesh Police sought help of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to arrest fugitive Nur Hossain, the prime accused of gruesome seven-murder in Narayanganj.

On May 27, Interpole issued red warrant against him.
