47 BNP men sent to jail in Barguna

BARGUNA: A Barguna court sent some 47 BNP leaders and activists to jail on Thursday.

Magistrate Baijoyanti Biswas passed the order when the defendants, reporting before the court, pleaded for a bail release in a case filed in 2013.

On November 28, 2013, local BNP leaders and activists attacked local Awami League and Juba League men, leaving six of them injured and vandalized eight motorbikes.

On the next day (November 29), Juba League leader Faruk Mridha filed a lawsuit with the thana in this regard.

On April 14, 2014, police submitted chargesheet of the case to the court.

Advocate MA Quader moved for the plaintiffs in the court while Advocate Jasim Uddin moved for the accused.
