City AL demands Mirpur Police DC removal

DHAKA: Dhaka City Awami League (AL) leaders withdrew the blockade on Mirpur-Gabtali-Gulistan road at 4:00pm demanding the removal of Police DC in Mirpur zone on Sunday.

Earlier, the leaders led by MP Kamal Ahmed Majumder of Dhaka-15 blockaded the road from 3:00pm protesting the vandalism of gates which were made on the occasion of AL founding anniversary.

The blockade pushed thousands of passengers into serious sufferings.

Kamal Majumder said they would resume the blockade if the authorities concerned didn’t take any step to remove Mirpur DC and officers-in-charge of Kafrul and Bhashantek Thana.

Moreover, the lawmaker alleged that the law enforcers are taking bribery in permitting illegal businesses.

The leader also claimed that the law enforcers led by Officers-in-Charge of Kafrul and Bhashantek Police Stations conducted separate drives and broke down 12 gates in Shewrapara, Kazipara, Mirpur-10, Kachukhet and Ibrahimpur areas.

The AL leaders had been observing the blockade protesting the incident.
