COX’S BAZAR: A Juba League leader was hacked to death here in Chakaria upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman, 30, son of M Kalu, residing in South Phulchari Banshkata village under Khutakhali union of the upazila.

Witness said that Mizan was beaten and chopped by miscreants on Tuesday noon. Locals rushed him to the upazila health complex and later shifted to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Chakaria Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pravash Chandra Dhar said that they have already detained a person in this connection.

The detainee is identified as Rana, son of Moktar Ahmed, living in Phulchari Shiyapara of the same union, he added.
