3 Jamaat men held in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR: Detective Branch of Police arrested three leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from court area of the district on Wednesday.

The arrestees are Rezaul Karim Suman, 33, Jamaat-e-Islam secretary of Laxmipur Ward No 6, M Jamal Uddin, 34, Amir of the organization in Sadar upazila’s Shakchar union unit and Abdul Awal Rasel, 33, former president of Jamaat-e-Islam in Laxmipur town.

Sub-inspector Anowar Hossain of DB Police said Suman, Jamal and Rasel were arrested while they were returning from meeting another arrestee, Jamaat Office Secretary Omar Faruk, who was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.

They were accused in several cases, including creating sabotage and obstruction in government duties.
