Khaleda challenges HC order on graft cases

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia filed two different appeals with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday against the High Court’s rejection order of two writ petitions filed by her in Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable graft cases.

Khaleda Zia also sought a standing order on the legal procedure of those two cases in the lower court.

Advocate Asaduzzaman filed the appeal pleas on behalf of BNP chairperson.

On June 19, a single bench of Justice Kazi Reza-ul Haque of the High Court rejected the writ petition filed by Khaleda Zia on May 12 challenging legality of judge appointment of Zia Charitable Trust and Orphanage Trust graft cases.

On the other hand, on April 13, Khaleda Zia filed a review petition with the HC seeking cancellation of indictment order.

On April 23, an HC bench comprising Justice Borhanuddin and Justice AKM Quamrul Quader rejected the appeal.
