BNP leader killed in Satkhira

SATKHIRA: A BNP leader, who was injured during a clash with police in Tala upazila of the district, succumbed to his injuries at the district Sadar Hospital on Friday morning.

The deceased, Halim alias Biplob Sheikh, general secretary of Jalalpur UP unit of BNP of the upazila and son of late Sheher Ali of Doha village.

Confirming the matter to banglanews from the hospital, Biplob’s brother-in-law Abu Zafar alleged that, Biplob, also lecturer of Shalikha College of the upazila, died of getting no treatment at the hospital.

Biplob’s family said police detained Biplob from his house at 10:00pm Thursday, and shot his leg at 3:00am Friday. Later, police admitted him at the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries due to lack of treatment.

Police claied, on secret information, police raided Islamkati-Sujonshah area of the upazila. At that time, miscreants exploded cocktails targeting police, police fired bullet in self defense, leaving Biplob bullet-injured.

He was taken to the hospital where he died in the morning.

Four policemen also sustained minor injuries during the clash, police recovered three machetes and a knife from the spot.

Police said Biplob was accused in at least 10 different cases.

Tala Thana Sub-Inspector Kamrul confirmed the matter to banglanews.
