‘Govt pushing BNP toward clash’

DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged the government is provoking confrontation as they did to allow them to form a human chain.

“We don’t want clash. We want to carry out our programs peacefully. But the government is using such language to us that pushes towards clashes,” he said.

The spokesperson for the party came up with the allegation while addressing a press conference at the BNP headquarters in city’s Nayapaltan area on Saturday morning.

Fakhrul also said, “The government did not allow BNP-led 20-party alliance to organize political programs to observe International Disappearance Day on Saturday.”

He also said that following the matter they assured the authorities concerned that their programs will be peaceful but the administration did not permit to hold the demonstration.

It happened just because of the ruling party people are in the administration, the also told the newsmen.

BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Jamaat Leader Dr Redwan Ullah Shahedi, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) general secretary Khandaker Lutfar Rahman were among others present at the press meet.
