DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will appeal to the High Court to get relief from more than fifty cases in judicial court.
BNP joint secretary general also Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) general secretary Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon came up with the disclosure on Monday morning.
Over two hundred cases were filed against BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists in past year on various charges including vandalism, attacks and subversive activities. Among them, 75 cases were charge-sheeted.
Mahbub Uddin Khokon said that these cases were filed and charge-sheeted for political purpose.
On the other hand, a Dhaka court deferred the indictment hearing against 38 BNP top leaders, including party’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, till October 30.
