DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said the party is committed to enforce all-out movement aiming to restore people’s basic and voting rights as well.
The spokesperson for the party made the assertion while talking to journalists after paying tribute to the grave of former president also BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of the party’s 36th founding anniversary.
Fakhrul said, “On the founding anniversary BNP has taken vow to organize all-out movement involving people to restore their basic as well as voting rights.”
He added: “They will compel the incumbent government to arrange a free and fair election immediately with the participation of all parties.”
In response to a question, the BNP leader said he does not think that BNP has been passing tougher time.
Bangladesh has been passing a critical time, he commented.
He added that BNP would involve people to organize the all-out movement.
Regarding the party’s organizational capability, Fakhrul said they are stronger now.
Regarding the remarks of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Chhatra League rally on Sunday, he said, “I earlier asked the PM to concentrate to solve the problem of the common people of the country.”
BNP leaders Abdus Salam, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Sultan Salahuddin Tuku were among others present at the program.
