Jamaat leader Masud on 7-day remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday Jamaat-e-Islami working council member Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, also former Islami Chhatra Shibir president, on a seven-day remand.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the remand order after police produced him before the court with 30 days remand plea in three cases filed with Paltan Thana.

Dr Masud is already on a 14-day remand in four cases with Motijheel Thana and two with Ramna Thana.

On August 9, police arrested Dr Shifiqul Islam Masud and 20 other Jammat leaders and activists while they were in a secrete meeting at a house on Zakir Hossain road in city’s Mohammadpur area.

Later, Masud gradually was placed on 25-day remand in eight cases.
