BAGERHAT: A local leader of ruling Awami League was chopped to death by miscreants at Zudhara village under Morolganj upazila of the district on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Mozammel Shikdar, 60, general secretary of Nishanbari union’s ward no.9 unit of Awami League and son of late Hasem Ali Shikdar.

Sources said that miscreants chopped the victim in the area while he was returning home after offering prayer around 9:00pm, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Hospital but he died on way to hospital around 12:00am.

Morolganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Aslam Khan told banglanews the body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
