Laxmipur Juba League leader killed

LAXMIPUR: A Juba League leader, who was injured in Friday’s attack, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in city early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 38, Isapur Union Ward 8 Juba League joint convener, son of Dudhu Mia of Sundara village.

Local and family sources said that Jahangir locked into altercation with Swechha Sebak Dal president Mahbub over a trifle matter on Friday and at one stage Mahbub and his associates attacked Jahangir, leaving him critically injured. 

Locals rushed him to Ramganj Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died under treatment around 4:30am. 

Ramganj Upazila Awami League president Shahjahan confirmed the matter to banglanews. 

Ramganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Lokman Hossain said that police action is underway to detain the involved persons.
