NOAKHALI: A local leader of Juba League, the youth wing of Awami League, was beaten to death by miscreants in Barul area of Amishapara union under Sonaimuri Upazila of the district on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Arif, 30, general secretary of Amishapara union unit Juba League of the upazila.   

Locals said that a gang of miscreants attacked the victim and started to beat him up in the area around 11:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot. 

Confirming the matter, Sonaimuri Thana Officer-in-Charge Ashraf-ul-Islam told banglanews that police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
