‘Bangladesh succeeds largely in MDGs’

DHAKA: Finance Minster Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Sunday said Bangladesh has attained successes largely in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), fixed by the United Nations.

He said, people are now more conscious and they advance to the development.

The minister was addressing at the launching ceremony of ‘Millennium Development Goals: Bangladesh Progress Report-2013’ on at NEC-2 conference room at Planning Commission (PC) in the city on the morning.

Muhith said, “I firmly believe Bangladesh will be able to achieve other goals of the MDGs from the period of 2015 to 2030. To gain the objective, we are more committed and more prepared.”

We know how to take the turnaround, Bangladesh will, obviously, achieve the goals set for the least developed countries, Muhith added.

PC’s General Economic Division (GED) member Dr. Shamshul Alam read out the keynote paper in the program.

Planning Minster AHM Mustafa Kamal, Prime Minister’s economic affairs adviser Dr. Moshiur Rahman, Planning Division Secretary Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam and United   Economic Relation Department secretary Mohammad Mejbah Uddin and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s resident representative Pauline Tamesis, among others, were present.
