BARISAL: Seven people were injured when two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) locked into clashes at Barisal Institute of Health Technology (BIHT) Saturday night.

Campus sources said that tense situation had been prevailing between BCL’s Sohag and Adib groups for several days centering establishment of supremacy in the campus.

As a sequel to the situation, chases and counter-chases took place between the groups, triggering a clash at 10:30pm on Saturday that left seven people injured. Of them, four were in critical condition.

Kotwali Model Thana Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam told banglanews, police, on information, rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Situation remains normal now, police surveillance have been increased in the campus area, Saiful added.
