Verdict accepted, says Nasim

DHAKA: Ruling 14-party alliance spokesperson Mohammad Nasim, also health and family welfare minister, accepted the Supreme Court verdict on Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee.

“Their ruling alliance has accepted the verdict of imprisonment unto death for Sayedee for his crimes against humanity during the country’s war of independence in 1971,” he said.

He termed the people, who decline to accept the verdict and complain of compromising with Jamaat, as willful sinners.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker expressed his reaction after a meeting of 14-party alliance on Wednesday noon.

He said the AL-led alliance hoped that the court would uphold the death sentence. “But we respect the verdict of the Supreme Court,” he said.

In response to a question, the AL leader angrily replied that people who sense entente are willful sinners.

They talked nonsense, he further lamented.

On Jamaat called hartal, Nasim said that people do not support hartal. “People will prevent the supporters of hartal politically,” he said.
