Cops among 30 injured in Habiganj clash

HABIGANJ: At least 30 people, including cops were injured in a clash among Jamaat-Shibir men, police and incumbent Awami League activists at Nabiganj upazila of the district amid verdict against Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee on Wednesday noon.

Of the injured, Nabiganj Thana Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam, Constables Alauddin Ahmed and Nasir Uddin were given primary treatments.

Sources said Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists, led by district unit Jamaat secretary Mushahid Ali, brought out a procession at Osmani area in town around 2:00pm protesting the verdict against Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee.

In a stage, they locked into a chase and counter-chase and clash with AL activists and polices when they hurled brick bats aiming local AL office.

Law enforcers arrested detained Jamaat activists during the clash on charge of attacking police.
