GAZIPUR:  Activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir set fire at pile of cotton on rail track and blasted cocktails in front of Sadar thana gate in the district.

The party is observing nationwide hartal from 6:00am on Thursday protesting Supreme Court verdict that sentenced Delawar Hossain Sayedee to imprisonment unto death for war crimes.

The arson and blast incidents took place at 7:30am.

Joydebpur rail station’s master Sardar Zia Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On the other hand, police detained 12 people in Tongi for their alleged involvement in subversive acts, said Tongi thana officer-in-charge Ismail Hossain.
