Bus torched in city ahead of hartal

DHAKA: Supporters of Jamaat-Shibir torched a passenger bus in city on Saturday evening as a part of Jamaat’s 24-hour countrywide hartal starting from Sunday dawn.

Witnesses told banglanews that the pro-hartal activists set fire to the bus around 7:30pm at Rayerbagh.

However, no one was injured as the passengers managed to come out safely from the bus at that time, they added.

The final phase of 48-hour hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami protesting the Supreme Court verdict on war criminal and also Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee will begin 6:00am Sunday and continue till 6:00am Monday.

Jamaat observed the first phase of the hartal from 6:00am Thursday to 6:00am Friday.
