SATKHIRA: Police detained 27 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its students’ wing Islami Chhattra Shibir from different places of the district between Saturday night and early Sunday. 

Of the detainees, 16 were held from Sadar upazila, five at, Kaliganj upazila and one each at Kalaroa and Debhata and four at Shyamnagar upazilas. 

Confirming the matter, district police information officer Sub-Inspector Kamal Hossain said that the detainees were wanted for various charges in several Thanas. 

Police are on maximum alert to tackle any sabotage during hartal, he added. 

Beside, no picketing or rallies or any untoward situations were reported yet. 

On the other hand, Bhomra land port service remained as usual.
