DHAKA: Leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, staged demonstration in city’s Uttara area on Sunday noon.

Sources told banglanews that Shibir activists brought out a brisk procession around 11:30am and later they held a short rally protesting the Supreme Court’s verdict on Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee.

Tarique Hasan, secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Dhaka (North) unit, urged the government to release Sayedee.

“Otherwise we will free him through mass agitation,” he added.

He, however, also criticized the government for detaining their leaders and activists.

Ayub Ali, HRD secretary of Shibir’s Dhaka (North) unit, among others, attended the program.
