DHAKA: Ruling Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Hanif on Sunday criticized BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for her remarks saying ‘AL will have to pay for holding general elections without voters’ at the Jamalpur rally on Saturday.

“What compensation is she talking about? There is a hidden conspiracy in her speech,” he said.

The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion while addressing the discussion meeting, organized by Swechhasebak League in front of Dhanmondi 32, to mark the 68th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

With Swechhasebak League President Nirmal Ranjan Guha in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by acting president of AL Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury and general secretary of Swechhasebak League Pankaj Debnath.
