DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib on 3-day remand.

He was earlier detained by immigration police from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city while trying to leave the country.

Sources said metropolitan magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the remand order in the noon after police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand plea.

The investigation officer of the case and also Sub-Inspector (SI) Azim said Habib is the accused of throwing cocktails and brickbats attempting to kill the police during September 22 hartal.

Sources said the BNP leaders and activists attacked the police on that day in front of Dhaka University’s Arts Faculty when police protested them from bring out a procession supporting the strike.
