JHALOKATI: Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry dismissed Jhalokati municipality mayor Afjal Hossain, also organizing secretary of district Awami League, temporarily on allegations of various irregularities.

A copy of the order of the ministry reached at Jhalokati deputy commissioner’s office around 1:30pm Thursday.

The order was issued on charges of cutting trees of government departments and selling them, giving approval to battery-run rickshaws and irregularities in establishing electric poles in town.

Deputy Commissioner Shakhawat Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The order, signed by deputy secretary of the ministry Khalilur Rahman, asked to handover charges to panel mayor-1 within three days of the issuing date of it, he added.
