Suranjit for ministerial code of conduct

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League’s advisory council member Suranjit Sengupta suggested that the government should introduce the code of conduct for ministers.

The senior AL leader said at a discussion meeting on current political situation, organized by a group of Awami League supporters at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in city on Saturday.

Pointing to posts telecommunications and information technology minister Abdul Latif Siddique’s derogatory comments on Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat, he said that we should leave arrogant behaviour in politics.

However, supporting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s speech on Latif at Friday’s press conference, Suranjit said that we should not further discuss on it.

He added that the government will not face any embarrassing situation if they introduce code of conduct for ministers.

We can consider the code of conduct as the democratic countries including the USA, the UK and India have this sort of code, he added.
