DHAKA: A court on Monday fixed November 13 for submitting the report of a defamation case against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman and its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Magistrate Ataul Haque of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court passed the order as Officer-in-Charge of Paltan Thana did not filed the report on October 20.
AB Siddique, president of Jananetri Parishad, a front organization of ruling Awami League, filed the lawsuit for Tarique’s remark on Awami League and Sheikh Hasina.
According to the statement, Tarique Rahman termed Awami League as a ‘black sheep’ party while addressing a professionals’ meeting titled ‘Strategy for Prosperous Bangladesh’ in East London’s Queen Mary University.
On September 5, Fakhrul claimed that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman said ‘joy Pakistan’ at the end of his speech on March 7. He also claimed Bangabandhu did not make declaration of independence which is false, defamatory and punishable.
