DHAKA: Cocktails were blasted in front of a CNG Filling Station in Pallabi Thana area in city during countrywide hartal on Thursday protesting the death penalty of Jamaat-e-Islami chief Nizami.

Police said that children hurled two cocktails in the area around 8:00am.

Confirming the matter, Pallabi Thana Officer-in-Charge Ziauzzaman said that some children aged 10/12 blasted two cocktails in the area and fled the scene.

Earlier on Wednesday, the first International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh awarded death sentence to Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami in four charges for leading the execution of intellectuals, mass killing, rape and loot during the nine months of liberation war.

Later, Jamaat called countrywide 72-hour hartal for Thursday, Sunday and Monday protesting the verdict of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in the war crimes cases against Nizami.
