Khaleda pays homage to Zia

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia paid homage to the tomb of former president also BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on occasion of the country’s Victory Day on Tuesday.

She was accompanied with BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the party’s other senior leaders including Nazrul Islam Khan, Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf, Selima Rahman, Professor Abdul Mannan, Barrister Shahjahan Omar, Amanullah Aman and Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel.

Following the BNP chief, leaders of several BNP wings including Chhatra Dal, Juba Dal, Krishak Dal, Shramik Dal, Mohila Dal and Ulama Dal also paid their tribute to the tomb.

However, BNP activists gathered on the mazar premises early in the morning and chanted slogans.

Earlier in the day, BNP chief Khaleda Zia paid tribute to the liberation war martyrs of the country at the National Mausoleum in Savar.
