DHAKA: The second-day’s daylong hartal, called by Jamaat-e-Islami is underway across the country in a relaxed mood on Thursday.
The party, one of the key allies of BNP-led alliance, is observing the shutdown protesting the death sentence awarded to its acting secretary general ATM Azharul Islam for war crimes.
No picketing was reported from elsewhere of the city form 6:00am.
Additional police forces have been deployed at important points and streets of the city. Huge numbers of police were seen patrolling in front of Nayapoltan BNP central office. RAB, detective branch of police including Water Canon, Riot Car remain deployed there.
