JESSORE: Law enforcers detained 67 people, including 12 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its major ally Jamaat-e-Islami.
They were held in several drives conducted till Monday midnight across the district.
District police spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Reshma Sharmin told banglanews that, of the detainees, 10 are from BNP men and two from Jamaat while the rests are accused of different cases.
The detainees are sent to the court in Jessore, she added.
Regarding the ongoing nationwide blockade, the ASP said police is working to protect the life and property of people. They are prepared to prevent any subversive activity.
