GAZIPUR:  A bus driver was burnt alive as arsonists set fire to the vehicle in Kaliakoir upazila of the district early Thursday, hours before the beginning of 20-party-called hartal.

The deceased was identified as Toazzal Hossain, 28. 

Confirming the matter, Kaliakoir thana officer-in-charge (investigation) M Rafiqul Islam told banglanews that the driver was sleeping inside his bus in front of Talimabad satellite center adjacent to Kaliakoir thana. Miscreants set fire to the bus around 4:30am, leaving the driver badly burnt.

Locals rushed him to Gazipur Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead at 7:30am.
