BNP leader shot dead in Chuadanga

DHAKA: Miscreants shot and chopped a local BNP leader to death in Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

Two other BNP men were also injured in the incident.

The deceased was identified as Sirajul Islam, 47, former Union Parishad (UP) member of Shankarchandrapur and vice-president of union unit BNP.

Police sources said that a gang of unidentified miscreants attacked them in the area around 4:30pm while they were returning home from a local market.

However, after hearing their scream, locals rushed to the spot but the miscreants managed to flee the scene.

Sirajul succumbed to his injuries on way to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where two others were admitted.

However, the body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Chuadanga Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Munshi Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
