LAXMIPUR: Police on Monday detained Zakir Hossain, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Chandraganj Thana unit, from the area of the district for his alleged involvement in subversive activities.

Police sources said that Zakir Hossain was nabbed around 2:30pm while he was taking preparation for picketing.

Police sources added that the Jamaat leader is accused in 12 cases filed with Begumganj, Laxmipur Sadar and Chandraganj police stations.

Chandraganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter to banglanews.
