RANGPUR: The law enforcers held 59 people, including the activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, from different places of the district on Saturday.
Rangpur DB police sources said that 17 Jamaat men and two BNP activists were held by law enforcers in a special drive on charge of arson attack, vandalism and creating anarchy in the district.
Rests of them were accused in several cases, including killing, drug dealing and so on.
The detainees were sent to jail after appearing before the court, sources said.
Rangpur Detective Branch (DB) of police Shariful Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
