Lawmaker Inu comes under attack One suspect held

KUSHTIA: Leftwing politician Hasanul Haque Inu MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Telecommunications, came under a gun attack in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district on his way home on Thursday night.

The JSD chief was accompanied by party leader Karim Sikder, Standing Committee member Munmun Ahmed Aga, leader Afroza Haque Rina, personal assistant to Inu Sazzad Hossain Sagar and security personnel Mohsin Habib.

When contacted, Inu told banglanews24.com.bd that it was a ‘mysterious incident’.

He said, “We were saved due to courage of my security man Habib.”

Habib said apparently the attackers were coming to “kill the leader”.

Assistant deputy inspector of Rajbari Highway police camp Mohiuddin said the motive behind the attack was not clear.  

Police arrested one suspected person from a bus. A case was filed with Pansha police.
