DHAKA: Awami League presidium member and deputy leader of the House in Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury urged premier Sheikh Hasina to immediate purge from the administration hordes of pro-BNP-Jamaat officials who rule the roost.

She made the strong plea Saturday while speaking as chief guest at a rally organized by Dhaka City Awami League at Bangabandhu Avenue in observance of the anniversary of release of Sheikh Hasina from emergency-time detention.

Sajeda, a most powerful leader of the ruling party, said the files stalled because of these BNP-Jamaat-minded employees. She blamed them also for the power crisis, saying that they switch power off deliberately.

“The ‘BNP-Jamaat officials’ have infiltrated every tier of our administration. It is a conspiracy against spirit of our liberation war,” said the AL leader on a note of warning.

She urged the PM to dislodge them from these posts otherwise all her efforts to advance the nation would be jeopardized.

Sajeda also criticized the hartal that BNP has called for June 27.

She renewed the issue of slow poisoning of Sheikh Hasina during the detention period.

Sajeda vowed their commitment to stop all the “conspiracies involving Islamic terrorism”.

State Minister for Law Advocate Kamrul Islam and General Secretary of Dhaka Awami League Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, among others, spoke at the rally.
