DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday claimed that the Awami League serves Islam in real sense rather than using in politics.  

“BNP and Jamaat do politics in the name of Islam. They do cheat people bys using Islam,” she said.

The Awami League president came up with assertion while addressing a view exchange meeting with grass root level leaders from different districts ahead of next general polls in city’s Ganobhaban.

The premier, also ruling Awami League, also said only in the party in the country serving Islam as it has no wicked political propaganda using Islam.  

She said, “No significant Islamic development initiatives had been seen so far during BNP regime but it should be noted that Bangabandhu granted lands near Turag River for ‘Ejtema’ and Awami League modernized Baitul Mukarram and took several initiatives for serving Islam.”
