DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has met with party chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail.

Fakhrul entered Dhaka central jail in Nazimuddin road around 4:45pm Friday (April 6).

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, multiple reliable sources of BNP said Fakhrul talked about Khaleda’s physical condition along with other issues related to the party strategies in the meeting.

BNP chief’s press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan told Banglanews that after the meeting in jail, Fakhrul will attend another meeting at Khaleda Zia’s political office in Gulshan. 

Recently, Fakhrul was hospitalized after falling sick. After recovery, this is his first meeting with BNP chairperson.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was sentenced to five years jail by a Dhaka court in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. Following the verdict, she was taken to Dhaka central jail.
