NOAKHALI: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said convicted BNP chief Khaleda Zia will be given medical care as per the jail code as the government hasn’t any interference into it.
“Everything essential will be done as per the decision taken by the medical board formed for her proper treatment,” said Quader also the Minister for Road Transport and Bridges.
Quader was talking to the reporters after the Chehlam (after-death rituals) of her deceased mother, at his residence in Companiganj of Noakhali, on Saturday afternoon (April 7).
“There is no scope of releasing her unconditionally as the court has penalized her,” he added.
The minister further said that it is a rare opportunity that Khaleda Zia got a maid and personal physician while serving jail.
However, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital for health check-up and tests. She was taken back to the Old Central Jail afterwards.
Khaleda Zia was jailed for five years, in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8.
