DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury asked why the AL government is reluctant over deployment of army during polls. 

“Army always contributes when the country experiences any crisis. There is no crisis is as severe as the situation when people lose their voting rights. Where is the problem if the army plays role during that situation?,” he asked.

“Obviously there are problems, otherwise why they (AL) are afraid of (army deployment)?,” he asked further. 

Khasru was addressing a discussion tilled ‘Citizen Rights and the Present Bangladesh’, organized by an organization named ‘Desh Bachao, Manush Bachao Andolon’, at Jatiya Press Club Saturday noon (April 21).

Terming the government autocracy, Khasru said the government is using the speeches on development after depriving the people of their rights, only to sustain in power.
