DHAKA: The 38th Homecoming Day of Prime Minister also Awami League President Sheikh Hasina is being observed on Thursday (May 17). 

Awami League and its associate bodies have chalked out various programs, to mark the day. 

The program includes hoisting of flags at Awami League central office, other AL offices across the country and placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city.

To mark the day, the party will hold a discussion at Krishibid Institution in the capital’s Farmgate area, in the afternoon.
 
Jubo League, Bangladesh Chhatra League and other associate bodies of AL will organize various programs, in observance of the day, according to 
 
President Abdul Hamid has issued a message on the occasion. He wished good health and long life of Sheikh Hasina, in the message.

However, Sheikh Hasina returned home on May 17 in 1981 nearly six years after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members.

She and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana were in Germany during the assassination of their family members on August 15 in 1975.
