22 Jamaat-Shibir men held in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: Law enforcers held 22 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir from port city’s Kotwali and Panchlaish areas for their alleged involvement in Tuesday’s violence protesting the Supreme Court verdict against Quader Mollah.

Police sources said several team of police, in separate drives on Tuesday midnight to early Wednesday, arrested them for attacking police and setting fire on a police vehicle. Legal steps will be taken soon against them after securitization.   

Panchlaish police station Officer-in-Charge SM Ataur Rahman and Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge AKM Mohiuddin Selim confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Two police officials were injured when Jamaat-Shibir men, from a procession, torched two vehicles including a police car and vandalized couple of vehicles and hurled cocktails at police in Enayet Bazar area of the port city on Tuesday morning.
