DHAKA: BNP leaders and activists on Friday (Oct 5) brought out a sudden procession in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar, led by its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, demanding immediate release of their party chief Khaleda Zia.

The rally, attended by around five hundred supporters also demanded withdrawal of all the ‘false cases’ against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

They were heard chanting angry slogans in the brief rally that begun around 12:30pm.

Rizvi earlier led several sudden rallies in separate parts of the capital city including Shyamoli and Shantinagar, demanding the BNP chief’s release from jail.

A Dhaka court sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years of rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8.
